Will You Be The Next Guitar Rock Star?

For many people guitar lessons to learn how to play guitar, becoming the next guitar rock star is a driving motivation. For some, it is the thought of easy money, while others want the prestige or the material goods that come with being a rock star. Regardless of the reason for wanting to be the next guitar rock star, there are a few simple rules that every players should know.
Practice. Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, and Joe Satriani did not pick up their guitars and immediately become rock stars. They first had to learn how to play guitar, and learn to play well, which required regularly practicing their guitar lessons. In interviews, Eddie Van Halen has often said that it has never been unusual for him to sit up practicing all night long, even as a teenager. It takes practice to learn to play like a rock star, and you have to learn how to play guitar like one if you are going to be one.
Perform. It is highly unlikely that you will be discovered while playing in your bedroom. You never really know how good you are until you join a band and start playing with other people. From there, you need to perform where other people can hear you. Some guitar rock stars have been fortunate enough to have been discovered while playing publicly. Others have earned their contracts through recorded demo tapes. Still other rock stars have earned their recording contracts by first developing a local fan base that helped to spread their music until it was noticed by the right people.
Persistence. Persistence is a key element in becoming a guitar rock star. Not all bands work out, and guitar players often find themselves looking for a new musical home. In addition, record companies tend to look for the sound that sells, and that sound is always changing. Your guitar playing may not be what they are looking for today, but it could be exactly what they want tomorrow. Keep trying, and keep playing.
Be creative. A quick glance at any list of the top guitar players will find numerous mentions of the word “innovative.” Don’t be afraid to play with the guitar to find something new and different. If your sound is unique, you stand a better chance at being the next guitar rock star simply because your sound stands out from the crowd. In addition, the unique sound is the one that people can easily remember and identify when they hear it, making them more likely to buy your albums.
Becoming the next guitar rock star is not as easy as simply wishing for it, but it can and does happen. You must be determined, dedicated, and able get yourself noticed, but the hard work practicing those guitar lessons will be worth it when you sign that first recording contract.
